UL 300 UPDATES
UL 300 is a standard for fire testing of fire extinguishing systems for protection of commercial cooking areas. It was released by Underwriters Laboratories in 1994 to address the changes in cooking equipment and techniques that increased the fire hazards in modern kitchens. UL 300 requires fire suppression systems to use wet chemical agents that can cool down and extinguish fires involving vegetable oils and other high-temperature cooking fuels. Fire suppression systems that meet the UL 300 standard are labeled as such and must undergo rigorous testing by Underwriters Laboratories. UL 300 Updates are important for restaurants and other commercial kitchens that want to ensure their fire safety and code compliance. Additionally, most insurance companies also require compliance with this standard as a prerequisite to coverage. Upgrading to a UL 300-compliant fire suppression system can help prevent fire incidents, reduce losses, protect lives and property, and avoid fines and penalties.
