Hotel manager commended for work in Yarmouth fire
04/16/2009
SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA - A hotel manager is being commended by the Yarmouth Fire Department for her work to control a fire in a hotel room last Saturday morning.

Lynda MacDonald was on duty at the Ocean Club on South Shore Drive in South Yarmouth when a fire broke out in a guest room.

MacDonald used a fire extinguisher to knock down the fire and helped to evacuate people from the area.

“We commend Ms Macdonald, her most appropriate and timely actions surely saved untold damage to the complex and safeguarded the hotel guests,” the Yarmouth Fire Department said in a press release.

An investigation of the fire by the Yarmouth police and Fire Departments and the State Fire Marshal determined the case to be attributed to a child in the room. Charges are pending.
